FAQs

The questions most homeowners ask before they call. If yours isn't here, the phone number above gets you a real person.

Do I qualify for the €1,800 SEAI grant?

Most owner-occupied homes built before December 2020 qualify. The home must have an existing BER cert (or get one done as part of the install, we book it). Rental properties currently don't qualify for the residential grant, though landlords have a separate (smaller) scheme. We confirm eligibility on the survey call.

How much will my electricity bill drop?

For an average 3-bed Irish home with a 4 kWp system: roughly €900–€1,400 a year, depending on your usage pattern and how much sun you get. Bills that previously sat around €2,200/yr commonly drop to €1,000–€1,100. We'll model your specific case in the quote.

How long does the install take?

Most domestic installs are 1–2 days on site. Scaffold up day one, panels and inverter live by end of day two. Power switchover is a 10-minute outage. Total time from sign-off to commissioning is typically 4–6 weeks (the longest pole is ESB connection notice).

Will it lift my BER rating?

Almost always, yes, typically by one or two bands. A 4 kWp system often takes a C2-rated home into the B band, which is the threshold most banks use for green mortgage rates. We coordinate the post-install BER assessor as standard.

What happens to extra power I don't use?

It goes back to the grid and your supplier pays you for it under the Smart Export Guarantee, currently around €0.21/kWh. We register your meter on completion so the credits start landing on your next bill.

What if a panel breaks in year 12?

Same number you called for the install. Manufacturer panel warranty is up to 30 years, our workmanship guarantee is 5 years, and our monitoring catches most underperformance before you notice it. No third-party maintenance contract to chase.

Do I need planning permission?

Almost never. As of 2022, domestic rooftop solar is fully exempt from planning permission in Ireland regardless of the system size, provided the panels stay within the roof outline. Protected structures and conservation areas are the exceptions; we'll flag them on the survey.
