Riverside Park Hotel€51,000 saved in year one
Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford · Hospitality · 4-star hotel · Installed 2024
The brief
Retrofitting a solar array to an operational 4-star hotel is a specific kind of hard. The building already had a settled architectural character, one pitched roof, one flat, with a live guest population underneath and a demand curve that never really turns off. Any install had to sit visually inside the hotel's aesthetic, work across two very different roof structures, and slot into a single overnight cutover window with zero disruption to guest experience.
MarVal Power designed a 254.88 kWp rooftop system built around 612 Longi 415W panels and SMA Core 2 inverters. Two different mounting systems were engineered from scratch, one for the pitched roof, one for the flat, so the layout followed the building's existing lines. A remote monitoring platform tracks generation and system health in real time, and the grid cutover was scheduled for 3am, minimising the impact on guests and hotel operations alike.
The system delivered €51,000 of savings in year one and a projected lifetime saving of €1,324,095. It also cuts carbon at a rate equivalent to planting 1,077 trees and now generates one-fifth of the hotel's total energy needs on-site. Beyond the numbers, the install strengthened the Riverside Park's positioning as a hospitality leader on sustainability, a brand asset guests and corporate bookers actively look for.
