Morgan's Fine FishCold storage running on 135 Tier-1 panels
Omeath, Co. Louth · Seafood processing · Installed 2023
The brief
Founded in 1860, Morgan's Fine Fish has built a reputation for responsible sourcing, food safety and sustainable practices along the Omeath coast. But cold storage, filleting lines and packing plants all draw hard on the grid, and rising energy costs were pulling in the wrong direction on the sustainability commitments already baked into the brand.
MarVal Power designed a 61 kWp rooftop system built around 135 Tier-1 solar panels, positioned to maximise generation across the available roof planes above the processing facility. The site's structural complexity, mixed roof heights, plant, and cold-storage runs underneath meant every mount point was engineered specifically. The install was staged so that daily processing kept running throughout, with no interruption to filleting, packing or dispatch.
Morgan's Fine Fish now generates around 16% of its energy on-site and avoids roughly 18 tonnes of CO₂ every year. The rooftop cements the family's forward-thinking approach to seafood, putting food safety, product quality and clean energy on the same balance sheet, and gives buyers a concrete answer when they ask what "sustainable sourcing" actually means at the processing stage.
