The brief

The ILAC Centre is a working piece of retail infrastructure in the middle of Dublin. Rooftop real estate was tight, plant and services already occupied a good share of it, and every install decision had to be made without disrupting trading hours or public access. The centre's operators wanted a system that would land inside a limited roof footprint, meet a demanding sustainability brief, and pay itself back on retail-grade tariffs.

MarVal Power scoped the full lifecycle in a single contract, feasibility study, system design, equipment procurement, installation, grid connection, remote monitoring and ongoing maintenance. Layout was tuned around service plant and skylights to maximise usable roof area. Installation was phased through low-footfall windows and staged from the service side of the building so shoppers never met a scaffold.

The 100 kWp array now delivers roughly 87.9 MWh of clean electricity every year at a levelised cost of about €0.03 per kWh, a fraction of retail grid pricing. Around 10% of the centre's demand is now generated on-site, cutting both the carbon footprint and the exposure to volatile commercial tariffs, and giving the ILAC's sustainability commitment something concrete to point at.
