George's Dock188 panels on the Docklands skyline
Dublin's Docklands · Mixed-use commercial · Installed 2025
The brief
As energy prices rise and carbon targets tighten, George's Dock sought to invest in clean energy that would reduce reliance on the grid while cutting emissions and operating costs. MarVal Power was selected to design and deliver a solution that aligned with both environmental ambitions and building functionality, without disturbing tenants or altering the building's Docklands aesthetic.
MarVal Power installed a 71 kWp solar PV array using 188 Tier-1 panels. The system is engineered to produce 79,818 kWh annually, offsetting nearly a third of the property's energy usage and enhancing long-term grid independence. Layout, tilt and cabling routes were designed around the existing plant and roof envelope so the array remains near-invisible from ground level.
George's Dock is now a model of smart energy investment, delivering measurable cost savings and environmental impact. Through solar, this iconic Docklands location is building a more sustainable future while future-proofing its running costs against grid volatility, 27 tonnes of CO₂ avoided every year.
