Solar Grants and Incentives

SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant
This generous grant will provide up to €162,600 in financial support for businesses, the agriculture sector, the public sector, schools, community centres and non-profits.
Key benefits
SEAI’s NDMG provides financial assistance so businesses and other sectors can install solar PV panels. With more government aid provided to commercial enterprises across Ireland, our country will become greener and more equitable. The funding is available for solar PV systems up to 1000kWp, and the grant application must be fully completed before work can begin.
Who can apply?
Funding is available for:
- Businesses
- The agricultural sector
- Public sector bodies
- Schools
- Community centres
- Non-profits

How much is the grant?
The amount your company can receive will depend on the size and output of the solar PV system. Systems between 1kWp and 1000kWp can be fully funded, with anything over 1000kWp receiving a maximum grant of €162,600.
TAMS 3 Solar Capital Investment Scheme
The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) provides support for farmers to enhance their farm’s infrastructure, positively impact the environment, and streamline their utility landscape.
Key benefits
The TAMS 3 Solar Capital Investment Scheme makes solar energy accessible and affordable for farmers looking to upgrade their farm buildings. The scheme aims to enable farmers to reduce their reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels and to embrace sustainable practices for a greener planet.
Eligible farmers can use the grant to offset the cost of a solar PV system, including panels, inverters, controllers, isolation switches, and cabling. Farmers can also claim the grant towards the cost of a battery, but the battery size is limited to 50% of the system capacity.
How much is the grant?
Farmers can claim 60% grant aid towards the installation of their solar power system. An investment ceiling of €90,000 means farmers can claim this much in grant aid without affecting their eligibility for other TAMS schemes.
Schools PhotoVoltaic Programme
Ireland’s government often accepts applications for the Schools PhotoVoltaic Programme, which will fund up to 6kWp of roof-mounted solar panels for eligible schools. The scheme is currently by invitation only but plans to open to the public in Q4 2024.
You can find more information and check the latest updates on the Department of Education’s website.
